Lok. 諾.
Lok. 諾 (b. 1996) is a young emerging artist from Hong Kong. The name Lok. (諾) is her middle Chinese name, and the meaning of "Lok” is “promise”. She would like to keep her works as true and honest as she promised to herself and the audience. She likes to express herself through different mediums such as performative, photography, painting, and installations. She prefers to maintain her work as conceptual and simple, yet powerful.
She came to Australia when she was 17, and despite living in another country and experiencing a different culture, the love that she has for her home and family is deeply expressed in her own arts. In her early studies in Contemporary Art at University of South Australia, Lok's works serve as an exploration of her ongoing struggles with mental illness - stemming from depression and anxiety - and how they form and alter her personal experiences with identity.
Recently, her artistic practice has become heavily influenced by the current struggles faced by her homeland, and hope speak out for Hong Kong while she still has a voice.
